Affiliate Workshop

The Affiliate Workshop will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at the Oregon Convention Center, from 8:30 until 4:00 PM.  The workshop fee is $70, and includes morning beverages, buffet lunch, and an afternoon break.  This workshop is designed for leaders of state, provincial, and regional EE associations.  The workshop will offer a chance to meet with each affiliate organization's regional EPA environmental education staff (we are working to offer a similar opportunity for Canadian affiliates to network with Environment Canada staff). Further sessions will cover fundraising, budgeting, successful capacity-building case studies, PR/communications, and finance.  A joint session with the concurrent workshop on  Environmental Literacy Plans  is in development.

Scholarships Available for Attending Affiliate Workshop

The Affiliate Network – with the support of EETAP – has funding available for scholarships for the conference. The scholarships for the 2009 conference have been awarded.  Thank you for your participation!

What is an Affiliate Organization?

An affiliate organization is a state, territorial, provincial, or regional EE association whose purpose it is to promote and enhance environmental education. Affiliates are organizations in the field of environmental education that have chosen to affiliate with North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) and have been approved by the Affiliate Network Steering Committee (see Application Description and Procedure). <<Back

What is the Affiliate Network?

The affiliate organizations formed the Affiliate Network of NAAEE to network, support, and gain new perspectives through shared learning. The Affiliate Network provides a forum for ongoing dialogue and activities that work to enhance EE capacity at all levels. The Network strives to improve efficiency, greater effectiveness, and a stronger and more unified voice for EE on the provincial, state, territorial, regional, national, and international levels. <<Back

What is the Affiliate Partnership?

The Affiliate Network was first conceived during a workshop at the 1990 (NAAEE) conference in San Antonio, Texas. Since that time, the Affiliate Network has grown to a membership of more than 45 organizations with tremendous potential to support NAAEE and further the field of environmental education. Realizing this potential the Board of Directors of NAAEE formally recognized the Affiliate Network in 1997 with the adoption of a five-year strategic plan. In 1998, the Affiliate Partnership was created. This Partnership established and defined an on-going, working relationship between the Affiliate Network and NAAEE with constitutional and bylaw changes.

Currently, the Affiliate Network continues work to build EE capacity. The partnership between the Affiliates and NAAEE has strengthened and is exploring ways for the Network to support NAAEE initiatives. <<Back
