Affiliate Workshop Scholarships

The Affiliate Network of NAAEE, with support from EETAP, is offering scholarships to the 2007 Affiliate Workshop and NAAEE Conference so that emerging affiliates may send leaders to the workshop. This year the workshop is designed specifically to meet the needs of emerging affiliates and their leaders. The workshop is Wednesday, November 14, 2007, and is part of the full conference but requires separate registration.

To apply for a scholarship, the affiliate must: a) be a member of the Affiliate Network; b) have applied for membership; or c) have contacted the Chair of the Affiliate Network Steering Committee to discuss membership. If there is not currently an affiliate for your state or province, but you are part of a team working to create one, you can state that in your application and it will be considered along with the others.

The affiliate may allocate the scholarship to one or more individuals, as it wishes. Any person receiving funds from the scholarship must: 1) attend the full Affiliate Workshop, 8:30AM to 5:00PM; 2) be a member of your affiliate; 3) be an active leader in your affiliate; and 4) complete a workshop evaluation, in-kind forms, and any other paperwork or evaluation required by NAAEE or EETAP.

The network has up to $15,000 in scholarship funds, which will be distributed equally to all affiliates that apply, regardless of “merit” or distance traveled. The scholarship application gathers information about the affiliate and their use of the funds, which will allow the network to determine the best allocation of scholarship funds in the future.

The scholarships are for reimbursement, and no advances are available. The affiliate will have to submit receipts along with an official NAAEE form in order to be reimbursed. It may take up to three months after the conference before you receive reimbursement. The EETAP funding source precludes reimbursement for meals, however, all other expenses such as registration fees, travel, and lodging are reimbursable. The workshop fee, $45, is of course reimbursable. The scholarships may be up to $1000, but will likely be significantly less. Many people find that overall conference expenses are about $1500 per person, varying widely with travel costs and other details, so you should not expect the scholarship to cover the majority of expenses.

The deadline for scholarship application is August 13, 2007. Scholarships awarded and the amount will be announced by September 7, 2007, in time for you to meet the early registration deadline of September 14.
