"States Survey" Introduction
Results of Third Survey on the Status of Environmental Education at the State Level
Between 2004 and 2005, the National Environmental Education Advancement Project conducted a survey to track the development of comprehensive state-level environmental education programs across the 50 states and to make this information available to EE leaders, funders, the media, and others interested in the status of environmental education.
The 2004-2005 survey marked the third installment in a longitudinal study that began in 1995. As with the 1995 and 1998 surveys, the 2004-2005 survey was sent to EE professionals in state-level positions including the state representatives of Project Learning Tree, Project WILD, and Project WET, as well as state EE associations and Department of Education and Natural Resources (or their equivalents) EE specialists. For the third survey, EE leaders that had served in key contact roles in NEEAP’s state capacity building program were added to the list.
