How-To For C3 Chairs
Do you chair a commission, committee, or council at NAAEE? Read here for details on the resources that are available to you as a chair.
NAAEE members that are chairing a commission, committee or council (C3) need to go through a short learning curve on two items:
What it means to be a chair, the duties of a C3 chair.
The system and staff resources available to you to communicate and build web content for your commission, committe or council.
Duties of a C3 Chair
Your leadership responsibilites as a chair include:
Build an active commission, committee or council -- NAAEE thrives on the active involvement of our membership and the primary structure for this involvement is through the C3 structure. Strong commissions and committees make for a strong NAAEE.
Provide Communications Leadership -- The chair provides and promotes the communication between the membership involved in their commission, committee, or council. NAAEE provides a listserv and web pages to enhance communication, show work products, and build community.
Resources for Chairs
There are three resources all chairs should be aware of:
- Your commission, committee or council has a listserv. The listservs with the names of the chairs and the C3 name are listed below [July 2006]. NAAEE staff can help you understand how to use this listserv to communicate with your C3. [Pending August 2006].
- Manage who is in your commission, committee, or council. You can add and remove people from your C3 and you can learn about managing listserv messages here.
- Web content and groupware tools -- NAAEE puts standard content about commissions, committees and councils. This includes things like a description of the C3 [pending Aug 2006], the current chair, and a list of NAAEE members that belong currently belong to the C3 [August 2006]. NAAEE can alsopost additional web content or file downloads to support the work of the community. Lastly, we have access to a groupware environment called "Team Spaces" as part of our standard content management infrastructure and certain very active groups may have interest in exploring this tool.
