2006 Conference Frequently Asked Questions



How do I register?

Please read this first to find out whether you should register online or send in a hard-copy registration form by mail or fax.

What do I get for my Conference Registration Fee?

The Full Conference Registration fee entitles you to attend the Opening events (October 11), as well as all concurrent sessions, keynote presentations, the Exhibit Fair, and special events for participants (October 12-14). With your registration, you receive badge access to food events (total value of $116), including the St. Paul Panorama Reception at the Minnesota History Center on Thursday, October 12 (you must RSVP for this event); the (full-service) Celebrating Excellence Awards Lunch on Friday, October 13 (you must RSVP for this event); two continental breakfasts (Friday and Saturday); and several morning and afternoon coffee breaks. One-Day Registration fee entitles you to participate in the activities on the applicable day. All prices are quoted in U.S. dollars.  


What is the refund policy?


Fees paid for field trips, preconference workshops, Saturday teacher event, ticketed functions and the EE Research Symposium are nonrefundable. For conference registration fees, a US $100 administrative fee will be assessed on written refund requests postmarked or emailed by August 28; US $150 for written requests postmarked or emailed from August 28 to September 27; no refunds will be given after September 27. A $50 administrative fee will be incurred for registration fee name changes.

Is there a student rate?

Yes, a student discount rate is available. Please see the registration brochure or our online registration system.


The organization I belong to is an Institutional Member, how do I register?

Information will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.


I'm a presenter. Do I need to register and pay?

Yes, all presenters are required to register by the Early Bird deadline and pay the appropriate registration fees.


Is there a discount offered to Exhibitors?

Information will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.


Are there other opportunities (Special Events) to participate in the conference?

Can I renew my membership at the same time I register for the conference?

Yes, you can do this either online or by submitting a hard-copy form via mail or fax.

Are scholarships available?

NAAEE will continue to offer the Stapp Scholarship for College students, the Diversity scholarship, and the K-12 teacher scholarship as funds allow. Information will be posted here as soon as it becomes available >>

Can I transfer registration to another person?

A $50 administrative fee will be incurred for registration fee name changes.

I am an affiliate and I want to register for the affiliate workshop.

The Affilate Workshop is A. Professional Development for Organization Leaders. Cost is $35.

Can I attend a workshop or field trip, but not register for the Conference?

The Full Conference Registration fee is a prerequisite to register for all pre-conference workshops, field trips, and ticketed events that are priced separately.

Where is the departure/arrival for field trips?

Information will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.

My spouse/child is not participating in the conference. Can I sign up my spouse/child for a Field Trip or a Ticketed Event?

Yes, family members are allowed to participate on Field Trips and ticketed events based on one paid Full Conference registration, but each family member must still pay the field trip or event fee. There is no discounted rate for children.

Submit a separate Registration Form including the name/s of spouse/children along with primary registrant's form. If submitting online, indicate name of primary registrant in the Comments area on each registration.

How do I reserve my hotel room?

Headquarters Hotels

The two hotels are connected via skywalk and are a short distance apart. There are several coffee shops and restaurants located between the two hotels, as well as numerous restaurants in the downtown area.

A block of sleeping rooms is available at the Crowne Plaza Saint Paul Riverfront Hotel. The special group rate of $109.00 for 1-4 persons is available on a “first-come” basis.

Reservations may be made by calling (651) 292-1900, must be made by September 7, 2006, and must be accompanied by a first-night room deposit or guaranteed with a major credit card. Please be sure to mention that you are with the NAAEE Conference to obtain the conference rate.


Additional rooms are also available at the City Center Hotel Saint Paul. The special group rate of $105.00 for 1-4 persons is available on a “first-come” basis.

What transportation options are available?

There is a "ride and room share" page here where you can add a comment to see if others want to join with you in sharing resources.  There is also information on local transportation such as rides from the airport and trainstation to downtown St. Paul and other information here.

How do I get from the airport to the hotel?

BUS
$1.50-$2.00 and about a 20-25 minute ride In the Lindbergh Terminal of the airport (most flights fly into this terminal) – Near baggage claim carousel #8, take the escalator up to the tram. Take the tram to the Transit Plaza. At the Transit Plaza, go up the stairs to the bus area. Go to Gate #4 (listed on the pillar) to catch Bus #54 northbound. Look for “54 – Limited Stop – St. Paul via Airport” on the front of the bus. This bus leaves every 15-30 minutes and all day except from 1am to 5am. Fare will be $2.00 during rush hours (weekdays 6-9am and 3-6:30pm) and $1.50 during non-rush hour times. (Must have exact change in bills or coins.)

To get to:

The Crowne Plaza Hotel: Tell the driver you want to get off at 5th and Wabasha in downtown St. Paul. Ride this bus down 5th Street to Cedar St. in downtown St. Paul. Once on foot, you will walk 2 blocks to the Crowne Plaza Hotel at 11 Kellogg Blvd. East (0.2 miles)……walk 1 block SE on 5th Street, turn left on Wabasha St., walk 1 block SE on Wabasha, turn left on Kellogg Blvd East. Crowne Plaza Hotel is at the corner of Kellogg and Wabasha. See map of your walking route>>

The City Center Hotel: Tell the driver you want to get off at 5th and Minnesota in downtown St. Paul. Ride this bus down 5th Street two blocks past Wabasha Street to Minnesota St. in downtown St. Paul. Once on foot, you will walk 2 blocks to the City Center Hotel at 411 Minnesota Street (0.1 miles)……..walk 1 block SW on 5th street, turn right on Minnesota St. and walk 1 block NW. Hotel will be on the left side of the street. TAXI
About $20-$30 from the airport to the hotel and a 15-20 minute ride.

SUPERSHUTTLE
About $13 per person and 20-45 minutes' ride, depending on stops for other riders. Information on travel from the airport is listed below. Leaving from the hotel, you must called SuperShuttle 4 hours in advance to schedule your pick-up via their website http://www.supershuttle.com/htm/cities/msp.htm or by calling 612-827-777, Ext. 2.

Upon Arrival at the airport
Lindbergh Terminal - Reservations are not required. After claiming luggage, follow signs for Hotel Shuttles and Scheduled Vans, to the Ground Transportation Atrium. The Supershuttle Guest Service Desk is well marked and located near the center of the shuttle area. Please check in with our Guest Service Agent. Our boarding area is conveniently located directly outside the door, at the rear of our desk.

Hubert Humphrey Terminal - Please locate the Hotel Shuttle Courtesy Phone located near baggage claim. Our dispatcher will direct you to the Ground Transportation Area to meet our van. Note: SuperShuttle does not stop automatically at the Humphrey terminal. Call for transportation as noted above on arrival. You will be able to pay the driver directly on board the van.


Discounted Airline Information

Northwest Airlines is the official airline for the 2006 conference and is offering discounted air fares to conference attendees. Discounts range from 5-15% off published fares based on type of ticket purchased and number of days booked prior to departure. Discounts are also available for Northwest flights operated by Continental or Continental Express.

Avis is the official rental car agency of the conference. For reservations, please call 800-331-1600 or book online at http://tinyurl.com/z5c3q and refer to Avis Worldwide Discount Number (AWD) D086328  Special rates are available from October 2-22, 2006. Avis has a service desk located in the lobby of the City Center Hotel where the discounted rates will also apply. Advance booking is recommended to ensure availability.
