NAAEE's 37th Annual Conference will be a gathering of over 1,000 educators from across the globe in Wichita. Kansas. Don’t let the Kansas location fool you…the unexpected beauty of the prairie will amaze you. Wichita, located in the south central part of Kansas, is on the Arkansas River. With more than 250 days of sunshine a year, Wichitans are eager to take advantage of the outdoors. Nature areas include the Sedgwick County Zoo, National Tall Grass Prairie Preserve, Lake Afton Public Observatory, Botanica—the Wichita Gardens, Cheyenne Bottoms Wetland, and the Great Plains Nature Center. The Kansas Underground Salt Museum is the Western Hemisphere’s only museum to exist in a working salt mine. The Old Cow Town Museum and six other museums, the Land Institute, a wind farm, and several Native American Reservations are also near Wichita and waiting for you to explore.
Visitors to the Conference Exhibit Fair are seeking a variety of resources and related items to use in both formal and non-formal EE settings. In accordance with this year’s theme of “EE on the Prairie: Pioneering New Strategies”, it is recommended that an exhibit try to highlight one of the strands at our conference:
- Art, Culture and Environmental Education
- Best Practices for Advancing Environmental Education
- Conservation Education
- Early Childhood Education
- Energy Education
- Environmental Justice, Environmental Health, and Climate Change
- Food, Agriculture and Environmental Education
- Religion, Spirituality and Environmental Education
Successful exhibits will be geared toward a wide range of conference participants, including educators at K-12 and university levels; natural resource education professionals; local, state, and national education organization personnel; and non-formal educators from zoos, aquariums, museums, and nature centers.
