Diversity Scholarship Application
The Diversity Scholarship application process is now closed.
NAAEE is now accepting applications for Diversity Scholarships.
This year, NAAEE has some limited resources for Diversity Scholarships for the 35th Annual Conference in St. Paul, MN. The conference will be held from October 10-14, 2006. Traditionally NAAEE's diversity scholarships have been limited to registration - meaning $400.00. Diversity is a key element of NAAEE's formal Strategic Plan to enrich the field of Environmental Education, and the scholarships are an opportunity to promote interaction and exchange within a wide variety of cultures and perspectives. A culturally diverse conference fosters vitality in our field. To apply you must submit your interest to Ann Marie Tipton at amtipton@parks.ca.gov.
NAAEE intends to award scholarships to individuals that help to reach the diversity committee's objective which is, to:
Promote a diverse membership within NAAEE and the field of environmental education and encourage approaches that include the contributions* of diverse cultural traditions
*"contributions" refers to the ideas, perspectives, practices, and people of each culture that provide another lens for understanding our relationship to the environment.
Priority will be given to those persons who will be presenting at the NAAEE conference. Recipients will be determined by the NAAEE Diversity Scholarship Council. Please note that membership dues of $55 will not be covered by the scholarship.
