A Ribbon Shows Your Generosity

Did you notice the people wearing the "donor" ribbons at the NAAEE conference in Albuquerque? Want to know how you can get this badge of honor on your name tag this year?  Just donate funds to support our scholarship efforts. Choose one of these deserving scholarship funds, or give a little something to all three if you can afford to be especially generous.

Diversity Scholarship Fund

One of the goals of NAAEE’s five-year Strategic Plan is to promote cultural diversity within NAAEE and in the field of EE. To support this goal, NAAEE has established a Diversity Scholarship Fund to encourage minority leaders and educators to participate in our conference. A culturally diverse conference builds stronger relationships, enriches professional dialogue, and fosters vitality in our field. Please consider a contribution to help us meet this goal.

William B. Stapp

Stapp Scholarship Process is now closed.
Some of the NAAEE members seem to really connect with each other, and if you knew their history, you’d probably find that they are “Staplings” -- students of Dr. Bill Stapp (1930-2001), a beloved professor at the University of Michigan. (You may have noticed that the University of Michigan has its own reunion reception at our conference; now you know why!) Dr. Stapp was a founder of the international environmental education effort, as well as an early NAAEE leader. To honor his role as an educator, NAAEE established a scholarship fund to help college students attend the NAAEE conference (not just those from Michigan). Please consider a donation to help “raise the next generation” of environmental educators.

K-12 Teacher Scholarship Fund

How many times have you heard that teachers don’t get paid enough? Your generous donation can bring more K-12 teachers to the conference. You know, the ones in the classrooms teaching students every day, the hard-working, creative folks for whom we create EE programs and materials. NAAEE has invited sponsors to help support teacher scholarships, but your donation would help, too.

NAAEE Announces College Scholarship Fund for Host State Student

The NAAEE Board voted to partner with the conference host state to establish a college scholarship for a person majoring in environmental education. Along with the Community Service Project, the scholarship illustrates the collaborative relationship called for in our strategic plan between NAAEE and the local Affiliate. Conference registration fees were increased by $5.00 to fund this effort. Therefore, $5.00 of your registration fee can be considered a donation for tax purposes.

“We are building a bridge not for ourselves but so others may travel this path with less obstacles. In the final analysis, what remains is our only legacy.” – J. Allen Johnson, NAAEE Board Member
