NAAEE President's Update

The Board recently gathered in Portland, OR, for our spring in-person meeting. We had a great time in that delightful, green city, the location of our 2009 conference. We visited the convention center and reviewed plans for the event, which is going to be truly phenomenal! See the program and registration packet at naaee.org/conference/registration

At our meeting, we spent a day reviewing your input to the 2010-2015 Strategic Plan. We unanimously approved a new vision for the future and brainstormed ideas that build on our strengths and take us in some exciting new directions. We agreed on the importance of continuing to build relationships with Affiliates and to become truly tri-national. To read more about the ways your input is shaping the plan, go to www.naaee.org/about-naaee/strategic-plan

And to make sure we have the resources to continue this work, the Board planned an ambitious Spring Appeal – with a robust financial “match” to encourage contributions. You’ll be getting more information about this shortly.

On Earth Day, Senator Reed and Congressman Sarbanes introduced No Child Left Inside (NCLI) bills with the support of 10 Senate and 39 House co-sponsors. The Maine Affiliate (MEEA) led an effort that got its entire delegation to sign-on! Congratulations to all who’ve been working on this with our EE Advocacy Committee! See whether your legislators are listed here: Press Release, April 22, 2009 >>

Happy Springtime to all of you!
Karen
