Dear Member,

We’ve had a wonderful year thanks to the active involvement of hundreds of members and the work that our leaders and staff have invested in the well-being of our organization. I sincerely appreciate the time and treasure all of you have given to NAAEE this year!

Here are some of our most recent accomplishments:

    · The number of member-donors has grown by leaps and bounds, and the total amount of their generous contributions has more than doubled. You can see a list of individuals who donated from October 2008 through September 2009 here.
    · Our 2010-2015 Strategic Plan has been approved by the Board. Informed by the substantive input of many members, conferees, survey respondents and a variety of stakeholders, this plan will guide us in becoming a truly inclusive, tri-national Association.

NAAEE will celebrate the arrival of 2010 by welcoming new officers and Board members into their leadership positions.
    · Diane Cantrell, President, Jose (“Pepe”) Marcos, President-Elect, and Edward (“Eddie”) Gonzalez, Secretary, will join Patricia Kelly, Treasurer, in serving as the new Executive Committee; and
    · Brenda Metcalf, Jeanne Troy, and Sabiha Daudi will join our Board of Directors.
They bring a tremendous amount of expertise to their roles and will, I am sure, lead us towards an ever-stronger future.
Now is a great time for you to join us in ringing in the New Year! Please go to our Web site and, on the home page, choose one of several easy ways to get more involved in our professional Association.
    · Click on the green “Donate Now” button to join in our year-end appeal and financially support our efforts.
    · Submit a proposal for the 2010 conference by following the submission directions, and/or offer to serve as one of the proposal reviewers by sending a message to our Conference Manager, Bridget Chisholm.
    · Join other environmental educators on the International Commission’s Study Tour to Belize.
    · Consider working with our organization’s leaders on a Committee. Once you find a Committee of interest to you, e-mail our new President, Diane Cantrell, introduce yourself, and describe your interest and qualifications.
    · Become more involved in a Commission. If you are not already a Commission member, go here for directions on how to use our online system to sign up for a Commission’s listserve; and/or email a Commission Chair to find out if there are opportunities to help out with a Commission’s work before our September 2010 conference.
I wish all of you a new year filled with exciting accomplishments and new discoveries – and encourage you to ratchet up your NAAEE involvement in 2010! I trust that you will find as many professional friends and experiences to learn and grow in NAAEE as I have.
