2. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship Program

Deadline: February 8, 2008
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is accepting Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship Program applications from students who will have official Junior status in Fall 2008. The Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship program is designed to increase undergraduate training and public understanding, recruit and prepare students for public service careers, and careers as teachers and educators in oceanic and atmospheric science, and to improve scientific and environmental education in the United States.

4. ARMADA Project - Research and Mentoring Experiences for Teachers

5. Fall 2008 Study Abroad Program ~ Thailand

Application Deadline: March 14, 2008
From the International Sustainable Development Studies Institute, the People, Ecology, and Development study abroad program will focus on the links between culture, ecology, and sustainability through the experiential study of specific communities and ecosystems. Includes the intensive study of Thai, as well as studies of organic farming and agroecology; islands, reefs, and mangrove ecosystems; and ethnic peoples and forests.

6. Monarchs in Mexico 2008

9. M.S. in Ecological Teaching and Learning at Lesley University

10. Marine Science Seminars ~ California

January & February 2008 ~ Cambria, California
Leading marine biologists are cooperating in an unprecedented research project to study Pacific patterns. With the increase of GPS abilities and a "shrinking" of electronic components, scientists have been able to tag and track elephant seals, whales, sharks, tuna, even birds and squid! In January/February 2008, five scientists from the "Tagging of Pacific Predators" or TOPP program, will be visiting Camp Ocean Pines to share their research.

11. New EE Graduate Program ~ Indiana

The Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College offers a 12-month graduate program that culminates in a master's degree in environmental education. This program is designed for college graduates who will work as environmental educators in diverse settings such as nature centers, outdoor education programs, nonprofit camps, parks and recreation programs, public and private schools, and independent environmental organizations. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Research and Publishing Opportunities

14. National Sustainability Education Standards Available for Comment

The United Nations has declared 2005-2014 the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. The US response to the decade is being spearheaded by the US Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development. The K-12 sector team of the US Partnership, with input from educators in public, private, and pre-service fields, has generated a draft set of national sustainability education standards and are seeking feedback on these standards.

This new Maryland Association for Environmental & Outdoor Education (MAEOE) Web site features a user-friendly design and comprehensive information on the MAEOE conference, Maryland Green Schools, Schoolyard Habitat, and more. The new Schoolyard Habitat section features inspiring before & after photos and information on how to successfully choose, fund, implement, utilize, and maintain hundreds of habitat projects and avoid common obstacles. Treasures in the Sea: Our Bahamian Marine Resources provides educators with scientific information and engaging, hands-on activities.
