International Symposium
Winter 2006 Communicator "Extras"
In this Thursday session, four speakers working in different parts of the world talked about their experiences in developing EE programs related to sustainability.
Harriett Stubbs (North Carolina State University) explained how she developed a model program in Brazil to help educators understand the interconnectedness of natural and human ecosystems, while Linda Liboiron (Biosphere – Environment Canada) described a project on capacity-building and action in the museum community related to its role in creating a culture of sustainability. Ana Gabriela Robles (Punto Verde Consultores) spoke about the Mexico financial industry’s model for achieving sustainability and learning for change, and Marceline Collins-Figueroa (University of West Indies) discussed whole-college approaches to education for sustainable development in Jamaica.
These four presentations showed great diversity among EE projects and gave the audience an interesting sample of what is being done abroad. How motivating to see that people from different countries work toward achieving similar goals!
