In five years, IdEEA, an independent nonprofit organization created a demonstration network of model EE schools. Not only did they train, support and evaluate 12 Idaho schools in The EIC Model™, they also exported their network to Montana and Wyoming. IdEEA is the only Affiliate bringing EIC to its teachers and students without financial support from its state department of education. They also established the Idaho On-line Clearinghouse of EE Resources and then tied this system to the Guidelines for Excellence through resource reviews. IdEEA also got a committee actively pursuing certification, expanded their membership to 451 (as of June 1, 2006), and invested more than $450,000 into the capacity of our state’s comprehensive environmental education system. Using the NEEAP “wheel,” we’ve gone from one component to 18 in less than a decade.
