Molly Madden - EE Teacher Award in New Mexico

Molly Madden is a Belen, New Mexico second grade teacher, who is an amazing and energetic environmental educator who integrates all aspects of EE and place-based learning to each new crop of students that she serves. In addition to classroom work/curriculum that features EE concepts, Molly adds a field work component of data collection along the Cottonwood forest that grows besides the beautiful Rio Grande. The data these second graders collect is used by the University of New Mexico's Biology Department in a long-term ecological monitoring program.

Molly's colleagues benefit from her awareness and insight of how to infuse and connect EE into her curriculum and classroom practices. In addition, Molly is a teacher-leader for the University's Science Scholars Academy for Teachers, and provides valuable outreach to K-12 teachers across the state of New Mexico on how to integrate science and EE concepts into the everyday classroom.
