Reviewer Qualifications
You must be a member of NAAEE and/or one of its Affiliates.
You must have the equivalent of five years combined education or experience in environmental education or closely related field.
You must have the ability to complete and submit reviews online.
- You must attend reviewer training.
Reviewers may not necessarily be experts on the content being reviewed, however each reviewer is expected to have basic knowledge of the understandings, skills, and attitudes associated with environmental literacy.
Reviewer Commitment
Reviewers are expected to complete three reviews each year (each review takes 3-5 hours).
Reviewers are required to have a short refresher training every two years.
Review Teams
Each submission is reviewed by
a team of three people. A Review Coordinator will contact you if you
are chosen to be part of a Review Team. The Review Coordinator selects
team members from the pool of trained reviewers to provide diverse
backgrounds and mixed expertise. You'll evaluate materials
independently, not communicating with the other reviewers. If
necessary, the Review Coordinator will organize a conference call for
team members to discuss their differences and reach consensus.
How to Apply
Submit
a Reviewer Application online (currently, EE Resource Review Reviewer
Commitment Form)
Reviewer Training
Training will directly
affect the quality and consistency of reviews. You must have
a working knowledge of the review criteria and participate in a
reviewer workshop, where you will
conduct a test review and be trained on how to recognize specific
components of the Guidelines. You'll also learn how to provide
effective
comments to submitters.
