Look here first for answers to your questions about Resource Reviews.

How do I get started?

  • Go to the National EE Directory

If your organization is already in the directory, click on Update Your Existing Entry. Then enter your login name and password.

If your organization is not in the directory, click on Register a New Organization. Then complete the form and select Create. Record your login name and password somewhere; you will need them to re-enter the system.

  • After you login successfully, you will automatically be transferred to your welcome page. Notice the toolbar on the left side of the page.

  1. Click on Contacts. Add/update your contact information and the contact information for others in your organization.
  2. Click on Resources. Add the resource that you would like to have reviewed. You may also add other programs to the directory even if you do not plan on reviewing them.
  3. After you create or update your resource entry, click on Create Self-Review and complete the forms.

Where can I get training on how to do my own evaluation of my resources?

If I ask NAAEE for an independent review, who will be evaluating my resource?

Your resource will be evaluated by a Review Team of three people. The team is selected by a Review Coordinator from a pool of trained reviewers, based on their availability. Each reviewer has completed a training course in preparation to accurately analyze the information according to the review criteria stated by NAAEE Guidelines.

What does the independent review tell me about my resource?

The reviewers will identify areas of strength and weaknesses of the materials based on review criteria in the NAAEE National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education. No field reviews or performance observations are made as a part of this process. Reviews are not intended to be seen as "seal of approval" by NAAEE. Reviewers are not necessarily experts on the subject matter of the resource being reviewed. Thus, reviews are NOT endorsements of materials or affirmations of factual accuracy of the content, only expressions of trained opinions on whether the content meets the Guidelines.

How much does it cost to have NAAEE review my resource?

During 2006, while the Resource Review program is in its pilot stage, the fees are $35 for a simple resource and $75 for a complex resource. Click here for the regular fee schedule.

If I ask for the review to appear in the National EE Directory, what will customers see when they search?

Searchers will see a list of resources that meet their parameters, with a to identify resources that have been reviewed against the NAAEE Guidelines. They can then click on to read the review.

What is a collection?

A group of resources submitted together that were created using the same format and educational design. The resources should be from the same category (Simple Resources, Complex Resources). There is no limit on the number of resources that make up a collection.

How will reviewers review collections?

When reviewing collections, reviewers will randomly select at least three of the resources.

How will reviews of collections be displayed for the public?

Because all of the resources in a collection were created using similar format and educational designs, the published review will appear for all resources in the collection, not merely those sampled by the reviewers.

What happens after a collection is reviewed and I develop another resource using the same format and educational designs?

The additional resources can be submitted for future review. The review coordinator will verify that the new resources were created by the same process and are presented in the same format. If appropriate, these resources will be included in the original collection and the original review will be attached to the new resource entries.
