Board Election Results

For 2007 Board

With seven candidates for two member-at-large positions, the 2006 Board election was an exciting one that included campaigning at the conference in St. Paul, where people could vote online at the Cyber Café in the Exhibit Hall. Three Board positions were filled this year.

1) Treasurer—Patricia Kelly.  Executive Director of the Opportunities Industrialization Center, Inc., in Oklahoma City, Kelly previously filled an unexpired term as Treasurer, and has now been elected to a full two-year term from 2007 to 2008.

2) Board member-at-large—Steve Eshbaugh. Eshbaugh owns Three Rivers Educational Consulting in Montana. He served as 2006 chair of the NAAEE Affiliates Network, which meant he also served on the Board this year as an ex-officio member.

3) Board member-at-large—Jose “Pepe” Marcos-Iga. Border Programs Coordinator at the Environmental Education Exchange in Arizona, Marcos-Iga has led the effort to ensure that Spanish speakers are involved and welcomed at the past two annual conferences.

Two members-at-large are elected to the Board each year. Each of the six members-at-large serves for a three-year term. These new Board members will serve from 2007 to 2009.

Jen Visitacion, Executive Director of the Utah Society for Environmental Education, is the incoming chair of the Affiliates Network. She will fill the ex-officio seat for 2007.

Under NAAEE’s bylaws, the president appoints one member per year to the Board. Martha Monroe’s 2007 appointment will be announced on the NAAEE Web site in January.

Leaving the Board at the end of 2006 are:

Diane Cantrell, Member-at-Large
Sabiha Daudi, Member-at-Large
J. Allen Johnson, Member-at-Large

NAAEE greatly appreciates the time and effort that these Board members invested in the association and the contributions they made through the Board, committees, commissions, and other venues.

If you are interested in becoming a Board member, it is not too early to start thinking about running for office at the end of 2007 for a term beginning January 1, 2008. Running for a position on the Board is an excellent way to build your leadership skills, as well as to serve the organization and the EE field. Notification of the nomination process will be posted on the NAAEE Web site in early 2007, with nominations due in mid-Summer.
